Frequently Asked Questions

What is it? Lipodissolve is a non-surgical treatment that involves injections of fat-dissolving substances into unwanted fat sites to permanently destroy fat cells.  It’s intended to dissolve pockets of unwanted fat that cannot be removed with weight loss or exercise alone.

Who is it for? Lipodissolve is ideal for individuals who have specific problem areas of fat that won’t seem to disappear despite how hard you work out or how much weight you lose.  It is thus designed for localized fat reduction and body contouring.  NOT weight loss or bulk fat removal.

What areas can you treat with this? Chin, armpits, back of arms, bra line, love handles, abdomen, inner/outer thighs, knees, and more.

How many treatments will I require? It varies.  Most people will reach the desired effects after 2-4 treatments.  Treatments are spaced out every 4-6 weeks.  Maximum fat loss occurs between the 6th and 8th week.  It takes up to 12 weeks for the body to fully remove the dissolved fat.

What is the recovery time? Downtime is minimal.  There is usually some mild pain and swelling.  You can resume your normal activities within 24-48 hours.

What are the side effects? The most common side effects are pain and swelling at the injection site.  This generally resolves after the first few days.  We recommend ibuprofen and antihistamines such as Claritin or Zyrtec for 3-5 days after the procedure.  Some people may experience bruising.  This will last about 7-10 days.  Some people will experience some hair loss at the injection sites.

Who would not be good candidates for this procedure? Those with active skin infections at the injection site, nursing or lactating mothers, and those allergic to PC/DC, and other conditions such as people who have compromised immune systems (autoimmune diseases, diabetes), are taking blood thinners, kidney disease, heart disease, or older than 65 years of age.
